This 1-hour asynchronous course is the second part of an ethical decision-making course designed to strengthen interpreters’ ability to navigate complex healthcare encounters with clarity and professionalism. You will explore the difference between strategic mediation and advocacy, as well as see how mental scripts make strategic mediation concise, effective, and unobtrusive. Participants will explore when and how to intervene using a structured approach to strategic mediation, with a focus on addressing linguistic challenges, role confusion, cultural misunderstandings, and healthcare system barriers.
